Can I claim standard deduction under US-India Tax Treaty with a visa status change from F-1 to H-1B visa in 2016? (Changed on Oct 1 2016)
As your stay in US is more than 180 days under F-1 Visa you can file a return and claim the standard deduction under US-India tax treaty. This exemption is you will get only till 5 years.
Hello Ajmera, Can OPT (F1- visa holder) apply for standard deduction ? if he is not a full time student in the Tax year ?
